The Melbourne Cup Carnival started early with a glamourous night at 1st Camberwell South. Punters from the district gathered together for a night of startling activites. Fashions on the field was hotly contested, bookies, trainers, jockeys and a few fillies paraded before the judges vying for the valuable prizes.The night then kicked into high gear with a full card of events on offer. A balmy evening ensured that some events were able to be completed outdoors where some mounts were thrashed to the finish line while others had to be carried across. Air power took over and balloons of all colours raced around the hall blurting their way to victory. If only the real Cup carnival was as colourful and noisy!
